This is a time of great opportunity for positive change.
Millions of people around the world are tired of war and violence
and are, hopefully, ready to work for peace.
Peacemakers will be tested in the coming months. We will
find out what kind of people we really are and when the first
phase of the coming madness dies down, hopefully, we will
be able to look back on our actions and know that we have
set an powerful example of how to work for peace.
And then the real work begins. As it always has. Visionaries
and practical people working together with a renewed sense
of common purpose toward creating a peaceful world. Meeting
challenges that bring out the best we have in us.
Right now effective forms of protests should involve building
and healing. Give blood, plant trees, build something useful
for people who need it. Do it in groups and do it in the name
of peace.
Welcome to the rebirth of the Eagle Bone Whistle, San Antonio's
first alternative newspaper. The original Whistle existed
as an advocate for the civil rights, environmental and peace
activists who were demonized or ignored by the mainstream
media. It is our intention to return this institution to the
people from which it sprang in the early seventies.
Over the next year or so we will design this site to deliver,
not just print, pictures and links, but audio and video. We
want to help local committed activists to tell their stories
using the most persuasive media available. We will design
the Eagle Bone Whistle as we go and we invite your participation
to make the Whistle an effective peacemaking tool for South
Central Texas.
Peacemakers must join together and share resources if we
are to have a real impact of the future of our region. Now
is the time and the Eagle Bone Whistle wants to help. This
time offers us an incredible opportunity to make a difference.

alternative channels.
